Padel at Risbygate Sports Club
What is Padel?
Padel is an exciting sport, the fastest growing in Europe.
It is not a new game, but was ‘invented’ in Mexico in the late 1960s. Since then Padel has expanded dramatically throughout the world and is getting a foothold in the UK. Risbygate Sports Club intends to be the foremost facility for Padel in Bury St Edmunds.
Two Padel courts have now been installed at Risbygate, and we have also expanded our clubhouse facilities to include a Community Cafe. The courts have been supplied by Hexa Padel.
To celebrate the club held a very successful Open Day with exhibition matches and coaching on Saturday 2nd September 2023. More details and pics to follow…
Here’s the LTA take on Padel.
We will be running club sessions (see below) to explain the rules of the game to people keen to learn this exciting new sport in Bury St Edmunds.
We’d have also set up a WhatsApp group for various club sessions. If you are interested in joining groups please WhatsApp or text David Harris on 07814 883434
N.B. Padel courts will be open to the public as well as Risbygate members.

N.B. Americano is 8 players, 7 games of 24 points, each player will play with every other player against different pairs.

How To Join
If you want to try a sport or activity at Risbygate Sports Club, and come along for a taster session, please contact the office on 01284 755468 or email info@risbygatesportsclub.co.uk and we will put you in touch with the relevant Sports Section Secretary to arrange a visit and give more information.
If you are interested in membership for a particular sport (or sports), you can either download and complete our Membership Form or contact us by email, phone (01284 755468) or visit the club’s office, which is open weekday mornings. We will be very happy to show you around the club, and/or any particular section you are interested in.
PLEASE NOTE
The Racket Sports and Outdoor Bowls membership subscription year runs from 1st April till 30th March. Indoor Bowls and Social/Petanque subscriptions run from 1st September until 31st August. Pro rata subscription rates apply if you join inbetween subscription periods.
